Career seeking at SEEK
Introduction
SEEK is widely known by many as the go-to platform for job hunters, hosting current openings to insightful career advice and helpful articles to help ace the application process.
Interestingly, whilst SEEK is used as a means for many to discover other available jobs, how many graduates have considered working for SEEK?
More than meets the eye
Company background
The SEEK group of companies has a goal of helping people live more fulfilling and productive working lives and help organisations succeed, which they achieve through their online employment marketplaces as well as other international employment and education businesses.
Starting out as an online version of print employment classifieds, the SEEK group has successfully grown from its Melbourne roots to establish a strong global presence across the Asia Pacific, and parts of the Americas and Europe.
Culture
SEEK promotes a culture of innovation, empowerment and collaboration through ongoing investment into AI and technology, and has been named the Best Place to Work overall and in the technology category from more than 700 companies by Australian Financial Review.
SEEK’s genuine care and focus on employee wellbeing and satisfaction, is highlighted by management’s strategic response to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff were reassured that no one would lose their job unless the business environment deteriorated dramatically, and the company extended its carer’s leave to “basically unlimited”, allowing greater flexibility for parents.
SEEK also boasts generous non-financial benefits such as flexible working practices, greater opportunities for professional development and upskilling, particularly in technology, and measures to improve employee wellbeing, such as free coffee and breakfast, meditation and pilates classes, and policies to enhance work/life balance.
Graduate Program
SEEK’s tech culture greatly supports innovation and creativity, particularly with their graduate programs in the Software Development and Strategy & Operations streams, which enable graduates to delve into strategy, artificial intelligence (AI), product development, commercial, internal start-ups and our international businesses.
As part of the two year program, graduates in the Strategy & Operations stream will gain hands-on experience in strategy consulting and high-growth tech, whilst the Software Development stream offers ongoing training to develop soft skills and to broaden understanding of technical concepts like cloud architecture, security, software at scale and more!
With a great culture and fantastic opportunities, SEEK is definitely a company to watch out for!
